Caring for your Moses Basket

Our  wicker moses baskets are hand crafted with great care from strong, natural wicker and bring a lovely traditional touch to the nursery.

We use natural fabrics wherever possible for our dressings, as they are soft to the touch and breathable, creating a comfortable first bed for your little one. They are also naturally durable and easy to look after. By using the right care for your  Izziwotnot moses basket you will ensure that it remain looking as fresh and clean as the day you bought it. Follow these simple tips to make sure they always look their best.

General Advice

Always read care labels or product warnings before buying an item to make sure it is suitable for your particular use. If packaging carries relevant information please keep it somewhere safe and always check you have removed all the tags from the product it self before use.

The 4 piece dressing set can be easily removed from the basket for washing. Always wash the moses basket dressings according to the care labels, each component has its own care label, so make sure to check each one. Most of our dressings are machine washable, but make sure you do not exceed the temperature stated on the care label. You may prefer to use lower temperatures for washing to save energy and there are a number of special laundry detergents available for low temperature and cold wash cycles. If you need any help re-dressing your moses basket after washing please see our Moses Basket Product Guide for a few hints and tips.

As with other laundry items it is recommended to wash dark colours separately when washing your moses basket bedding. Do not soak dark or medium coloured fabrics as the colours may run. Do not use bleach.

Like most natural fibres linen or cotton products may shrink a little in the first couple of washes. While it is possible to tumble-dry the majority of our products on a low heat, if it can be avoided we would recommend you avoid tumble-drying your dressings. The cotton fibres can shrink a little when exposed to the high temperatures of tumble-drying and it can take away their natural lustre and softness. Remember, do not iron wadded liners or coverlets as this can damage the wadding.

Caring for your mattress

All our Moses Baskets come with a comfortable foam mattress, to create the perfect sleeping surface for your baby.

It is very important that your baby’s mattress is kept clean and dry, which is why our moses basket mattresses have a sealed waterproof PEVA cover.  PEVA is a safe material, which does not include chlorine like PVC and has many benefits; the PEVA cover is waterproof and can be easily wiped clean with a mild disinfectant.  The waterproof cover is also heat sealed together at the edges preventing moisture and dust from reaching the fillings, protecting them and helping to prevent allergies from developing – the fact there are no sewn seams again prevents dust and dirt from becoming trapped in the mattress, helping to making it more hygienic.

While this construction is different from many you will see in the market, we believe it offers a superior mattress and in combination with our luxury moses baskets and their padding linings and cosy dressings, creates a safe and comfortable first bed for baby.

Cleaning your wicker basket

To maintain the good looks of your wicker basket we suggest regular dusting of the wicker with a soft, dry cloth. Any spillages should be removed immediately, as they may stain or affect the finish.

Never clean your basket with abrasives, ammonia based, bleach based or spirit type cleaners.
